"there's the cage and the birds and all around us there's beauty and loneliness and our freedom locked deep inside."

That's the general concept, anyway.

This piece was originally sketched waayy back during winter break in december, and never got finished until now. So I guess this is my first piece of the new year, haha~ I have to say that I'm proud this is my first piece. I got to try so many new things and get lost in details and just push my limits and go overboard. Even though it took so long, I think it was totally worth it. Looking back, I probably could have finished earlier, but so many things got in the way. But I don't think it would have turned out like this if it had been done earlier. I'm sure there's things I could work on to make this piece spectacular, but I'm satisfied to let this piece rest now--it's good enough for me at this point in time.

I originally sketched this on really bad sketchbook paper that was really yellow and rough, and the scans turned out so bad that I ended up tracing the image with a lightbox onto printer paper. I'm not sure why, since no one can even see the sketch. I guess I was so detail oriented throughout this whole piece that I just had to get that right to move on to cging. orz;;

For those of you that are interested, this piece may potentially be printed for fanime 2010, if I can get a table (if they ever open up registration for tables!!) If I do print this, I'll probably make a few extra to sell through dA. C:

The details. The lighting. So astounding. What made me amazed was the chair. There is so much small detail I give you huge props for having the patience to do that part. Loving the whole concept of the entire piece.
